Hi,

Does anyone still post here anymore?

I had the lunch of a lifetime at Renu Nakorn last
Saturday: chicken satay, tom kah kai (spicy soup
with chicken and straw mushrooms), and salmon panang
(grilled salmon on a slightly spicy curry sauce with
vegetables). 13019 E. Rosecrans Ave., Norwalk.

Oh, and then lunch on Thursday in Artesia at Kabob
Corner. Vegetable samosas with the restaurant's
addictive spicy-mint dipping sauce, garlic naan, and
Hyderabad chilly chicken. As the Food Network's
resident slut would say: YUM-O!!! Then to Saffron
Spot next door for house-made Indian ice creams
(guava for me). 18742 Pioneer Blvd., Artesia.

There are so many good places to eat in this part of
Little India -- Tirupathi Bhimas, Jay Bharat, Udupi
Palace, Rajdhani (you'll eat until you explode),
even Woodlands and Vasantha Bhavan.

HI Arne,

Yours is the first post I've seen here in a while. I don't get out to eat
much, as my wife and daughter feed me pretty good at home.

Sounds good. That's the kind of stuff I get a lot of.

Been about ten years since I've had Indian food. I used to love Salome's
Indian Bangladeshi Restaurant in North Hollywood.

Take care.

Arne made a good on topic post, unlike yours. Trying to stir the pot?
Thanks for your (non) contribution.

If Annie the Faggot can make two on topic posts in a row it will be because it
is taking its medicine and got its electro shock treatments or the AIDS rotted
away part of its brain. Look at the archive. He single handed chased away
every good poster. Sorry I don't forget or forgive such a huge transgression.

I agree. I watched the dissent here for years, and waiting for posts here,
but to hurl outrageous, unacceptable (to civilized people, at least) terms
around, regardless of the conflict irrefutably reduce that person to the
same lows they accuse others of. Disgusting. Get off my screen.

No Arne, you drove all the reasonable people away.

Well done.

Wrong.

If Arne had that much power over la.eats then there wasn't much to la.eats
in the first place.

Too many people who didn't know how to use a filter or reading with an e-mail
program that doesn't have filters. Of course with every ISP dropping usenet, it
didn't help.

Yet other newsgroups have survived and carried on even as many ISPs have
dropped Usenet (even though there is less activity than before). And many
newsgroups have as bad, if not worse, posters (and trolls) than la.eats has
with Arne.

Some groups yes, some groups no. I know of a group that used to have 20 posts a
day that is now down to maybe 50 a year. It also had a troll problem about the
same timeframe as la.eats. I also know ba.eats hasn't dropped off, but I think
the people there are savvy enough to know how to use a filter.

Then again maybe the food scene in LA is stagnant. Not a lot of turn over
except chains and we all know chains.

I'll put out a couple of requests. Got a group of people, 5-10, that
unfortunately have to meet in a building in Boyle Heights for a Saturday AM
meeting. Majority live in the San Gabriel Valley. Looking for some interesting
places to get a breakfast. Interesting means more than pancakes and waffles on
the menu. For reference some of the places we've been are the Dining Car,
Twohuys, Green Street, Mi Piace, El Tepeyac, and Roscoe's. Also did Robins when
they did breakfast. Free parking helps.

Same group, but this time for our 155th anniversary dinner coming up in March.
This one we are looking at a bigger group, banquet room, as we are expecting
dignitaries to show up. Preferably in the City of LA. A place where
politicians will know it. (We are inviting some)

Yes, remember how in the mid-1990s people would jokingly predict
"death of Usenet imminent; film at 11?". It actually has happened to
a couple of groups that I used to read; as with the example above
they'd have about 20 posts a day but are now virtually dead.

Trolls were not the only factor (websites and blogs and boards were
probably the biggest factor), but they were a factor.
