I've only had fish tacos in San Diego...
Really? Interesting.
Just wondering, why haven't you ever ordered them elsewhere, including
here in the Bay Area?
This seemed like an odd comment to me. Aaahz's comment, I mean.
I've had fish tacos in Encinatas, San Diego, Carlsbad, Hermosa Beach,
Manhattan Beach, Carpenteria, Santa Barbara, Pismo, Monterey/PG, Santa
Cruz (of course), San Jose, and SF. Maybe in the East Bay, but I'm not
sure about that. Oh, and in Marin and Sonoma counties.
The best fish tacos I have ever had were at Taco Nazo in
La Puente. They have a few locations in the San Gabriel Valley.

None of the locations unfortunately are located inside the City of Los
Angeles, so I guess it's off-topic for the la.eats newsgroup.

I just hope that enough people get your ironic reference to end the
Reign of Arnie. Or Arne. Or whatever he calls himself.

My brother lives in LA (ObArnie, actually in Manhattan Beach, which is
not technically part of the City of LA) and I used to check this
newsgroup to get ideas for where we might eat on my visits down there.

But this newsgroup now appears to be dead. I hope Arnie is happy with
its purity.

I don't think he is sure what he calls himself. He also
didn't seem to sure about what was City of LA himself.

Time for updates, lots of new places since then.

Maybe we are lucky and Arne is dead.

Nah, he just moved out of California.

(A quick Google search turned up his Facebook page.)

It would be good news indeed if somehow la.eats got to even having one
tenth the traffic that ba.food has.

While we can't blame its somnolescense on Arnie alone, something need
to give it a shot of adrenaline.

The LA area--and I mean more than Arnie's strict borders--is home to a
vast number of good eating places. (So I read about, so I have
experienced there.)

I hope this group can be Frankenstein-jump-started back to life.

I ate at their Valley Blvd. location one day and walked
around the back; I saw boxes of fish filets imported
from China. There's always a reason why some food
is cheap.

I did come back a week later to order a non-fish item
just to get some of their roasted jalapenos.

I would hazard a guess that you would find the same at
even fancy places in West LA.

You may also find that in many places your catfish comes
from Vietnam.

Then 90% of the shrimp eaten in the US is imported and
much of the imported shrimp is farmed.

Those roasted jalapenos are a treat.
